Our History

A Cape Cod Tradition Since 1989

Fairway Tavern & Pizzeria and the Hole In One Donut Shops have been part of the Outer Cape dining scene for decades. Known for quality food and friendly, welcoming service, both have been built around a simple idea. Serve good food, treat people well, and create a place the community can rely on.

Our Roots

The story began in 1989 when the Bazzano family opened the original Hole In One Donut Shop in Eastham. It quickly became a local favorite for fresh donuts and bakery items. As the business grew, a second donut shop followed, along with the opening of the Fairway Restaurant next to the Eastham location.

Under the leadership of General Manager Ken Taber, alongside his wife and her three sisters, the businesses thrived for many years. Their hands-on approach and commitment to consistency helped build a loyal following across Cape Cod. By the early 2020s, the family decided to retire, opening the door for new ownership.

A New Chapter

John and Brenda Kesaris purchased Fairway and Hole In One in the early 2020s. John brought decades of experience in the restaurant industry. He grew up working in his family’s restaurant business on Boston’s South Shore, later trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, and gained experience as a sous chef in a major hotel chain.

Over the years, he went on to open several restaurants along the East Coast, including a successful coal-fired pizzeria in Marshfield, Massachusetts.

As a long-time summer resident of Cape Cod, John was already familiar with the brand. After discovering Hole In One in Orleans, his passion for baking and strong restaurant background led him and Brenda to acquire the business.

As part of this next chapter, the Fairway evolved from a traditional restaurant into what is now Fairway Tavern & Pizzeria, embracing a more relaxed, cozy, and community-driven dining experience while staying true to its roots.

Carrying on the Tradition

Since taking over, the Kesaris family has stayed focused on what made these businesses successful – quality food, consistent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Changes have been made thoughtfully, with an emphasis on preserving what people already loved while continuing to grow.

New locations in Yarmouth and Rockland have since been added, expanding the reach of the brand while keeping its local roots.

Today, John, Brenda, and their children remain actively involved in daily operations, working closely with their team and continuing the family-driven approach that has defined the business from the beginning.

They are also strong supporters of the Cape Cod community, regularly contributing to local schools, fundraisers, and events. That connection to the community remains a central part of who they are.
